Huron Perth Spring Season Cancelled

Huron Perth Athletics

As we continue to cope in these challenging times with the COVID-19 pandemic, it is with great disappointment that we announce today the cancellation of 2020/21 SPRING Huron Perth competitions and championships.

On behalf of the Huron Perth Athletic Association and all of our staff, we are thankful for the commitment and passion of all student-athletes, coaches, convenors and volunteers for their work.

As we endure this uncertain coronavirus health crisis, the Huron Perth Athletic Association will continue to follow the direction of public health experts and government agencies.

We eagerly look forward to when we can safely get back to the classroom and when sport returns to our school communities.

Please see announcements below from WOSSAA and OFSAA.

Stay safe and healthy.

OFSAA

To all member Associations:

Due to the current pandemic situation, our President Nick Rowe announced today that all OFSAA championships and festivals for the spring season have been cancelled.

Despite this disappointing news, we wish to reiterate our continued support for sports and activity for the benefit of students’ physical and mental well-being. School sports play a vital role in education and in the lives of students, and while this announcement affects OFSAA events only, we encourage whenever possible, local interschool sports, intramurals and skill development. The feasibility of those activities should be assessed by school boards and school athletic associations in consultation with local public health units.

Ophea has begun the process of preparing COVID-19 safety considerations for interschool competitions and it is expected these will be released this spring.  We will work with them as they move through this process and communicate with associations as necessary.

WOSSAA

WOSSAA has officially cancelled all spring sport Championships, as per past precedent with the spring 2020, fall 2020 and winter 2021 Championships. These WOSSAA cancellations are reflected on the WOSSAA website.
